Yui Mugino is a Japanese singer-songwriter, lyricist, composer and vocal director, currently based in Tokyo, Japan. Her most famous work to date is the song “us” by up-and-coming Japanese singer-songwriter milet, which was written as the theme song of the popular 2019 Nippon TV drama series “Fake Affair“. Being one of the most sought-after female songwriters in the current Japanese music industry with almost 20 releases just in the first half of 2019, Mugino has worked with numerous up-and-coming artists such as milet, NiziU, Travis Japan, OH MY GIRL, Harumi, OdAkEi, CHANMINA, YOUYA、IMPACTors, ELAIZA, Girls2, iScream, DREAMCATCHER, TEMBA and more. Mugino graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2012, where she majored in Contemporary Writing & Production with a scholarship. She made her songwriting debut in 2014, after gaining recognition singing on and writing lyrics for demos of hit songs by popular Japanese artists such as Namie Amuro, JUJU, Nana Mizuki and more. As one of the few up-and-coming female songwriters of the new generation working in the Japanese music industry, Mugino nurtured her songwriting skills through many co-writing sessions with producers of different genres and nationalities both in Japan and overseas, earning a reputation for flexibility in her writing style. In recent years, Mugino has come to specialize in vocal production and direction, translation of Japanese lyrics into singable English, and coaching English pronunciation for singers and rappers hoping to reach an international audience; a field of ever increasing demand in the Japanese music industry.
