TO KNOW

For the second year in a row, She Is The Music is excited to partner with The Blackbird Academy to cover living expenses (housing, transportation, and meals) and provide two full tuition scholarships (a current value of $46,200) for two students for the October 2022 Studio Engineering class beginning October 3, 2022 and two students for the January 2023 Live Audio Engineering class beginning January 9, 2023.

Facilitated through NARAS’ producers and engineers wing, this partnership between Blackbird Academy and SITM will encourage more women to consider careers in the male dominated sector of music production and live sound.

John McBride, renowned Sound Engineer, and Owner and Founder of The Blackbird Academy, believes in the empowerment of women across the music industry spectrum. Over the last 8 years, he has felt there has been a significant gender imbalance in student enrollment. The Blackbird Academy and She Is The Music are proud to offer the opportunity to women interested in studio and live sound. Scholarship recipients who complete the six-month program will earn the The Blackbird Academy credential for excellence in sound engineering. Providing this opportunity is one way that She Is The Music fulfills its mission to increase the number of women working in music.

BENEFITS

(1) Full tuition, (2) $10,000 grant to help cover travel, accommodations, and other living expenses (housing, food) during the program (Note: This grant will be considered taxable income for your 2022 taxes), (3) Housing support from Blackbird Academy.
