Noted as one of the great instrumentalist and clinicians in the musical arena, Syreeta Thompson’s musical gift proves to be both sincere and incomparable. The powerful trumpeter has managed to blaze the gospel industry circuit by sharing the stage with many of its greatest icons from the renowned Hezekiah Walker and LFT to the legendary Dorinda Clark-Cole. For many the musical experience of Syreeta Thompson is simply profound as she consistently delivers a stirring performance as an anointed minstrel each time she ministers. For the woman affectionately known as the Trumpet Lady, each opportunity is undeniably an opportunity “to infuse the gospel of Jesus of Christ to all mankind and to touch souls with the gift of music”. Syreeta Thompson is a skilled and educated Psalmist whose speaking and teaching schedules remains as in demand as her musical presentations. In fact, one of her premier achievements to date is her role as the Instrumental Music Coordinator for Dorinda Clark Cole’s Singers and Musicians Conference, a renowned musical convention that inspires and instructs thousands of ministers and performers each year. In recent times, she has been a featured artist for Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Industry Retreat and I Hear Music in the Air Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition, she was the featured artist at this year’s Chicago Gospel Announcers Guild. The incomparable performer not only has a signature sound but a signature style that includes performing with a red, white and blue trumpet, all of which are endorsed by T.HINES horns. Syreeta’s career has brought her a long way since her days of study at the tender age of twelve at the Merit Music Program and Sherwood Conservatory of Music in Chicago, Illinois. The Stellar nominated performer is a graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and she holds a Masters Degree in film scoring and jazz composition and arranging. Today, Syreeta’s scholastic competence and musical proficiency has garnered the position of Department Chair of Middle School Instrumental Music for Cicely Tyson School of fine and Performing Arts, East Orange, NJ. Thompson has also skillfully written six curriculums for the East Orange School District. The in-demand clinician is a Master Music Educator with the New Jersey Education Association, as well as a Member of M.E.N.C. (Music Educators National Conference) Among the mentors that Syreeta credits for her success are Wynton Marsalis, Dorinda Clark Cole and her mother Nancy Facen, all of which have made personal indelible marks into the life and craft of Syreeta. Syreeta Thompson’s debut release entitled “In His Presence” was A meaningful project filled with special guest appearances including performances by Dorinda Clark-Cole and DeWayne Woods. Within this body of work, Syreeta lends phenomenal vocals as well as soothing trumpet melodies. Syreeta is currently at work on her ambitious sophomore project entitled “Winner” scheduled for release Fall 2016, includes a diverse offering of inspired new material and will feature her home choir & pastor Bishop Hezekiah Walker & LFT Church Praise Team.
