About Roselien Tobbackx

Producer/Composer/Vocalist/DJ Whilst her Roselien moniker has been rushing through the London jazz, soul and rnb scene by various live shows downtown and her monthly "La Vie En Rose" radio show on Totally Wired Radio in the east side of town, her newest project Rosie From The Block came out of the blue on Antwerp based imprint ‘Vice City’ with refreshing but sharp broken beats, soulful and gospel like vocals along with a strong message and a soft touch of herself. She already caught attention and support from big names worldwide such as Reggie Watts, IG Culture and Lefto, a remix done by Broken Beat's leading artist Kaidi Tatham and done support shows for Gregory Porter, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Jones Girls, Bilal and Gabriel Garzon Montano, Roselien is at least Belgium's hardest working girl within her niche. As Roselien, her vocals were always the leading factor in her music, but Rosie From The Block shows her tougher side within by giving the full attention to her instrumentals and adding lyrics in function of her jams. After the Vice City release she got approached by Bristol based forward thinking electronic imprint ‘Phuture Shock Musik’. Within a couple of months she got a new EP ready that got released in August 2022 and got solid support in UK already from Laani, Sean McCabe, Red Rack’em, Erica McKoy and Leopold to name just a few. This led to a UK tour in September: Rosie shared her skills, vibes and energy on the decks and on the mic in London, Brighton and Bristol.

Roselien's Experience

I got my bachelor degree in Music Production at the Conservatory in Ghent, Belgium in 2019. I graduated with distinction. (recording, mixing engineer, arranging for bigbands, programming and recording in all main DAW’s, eartraining) For a couple of months I interned at State of the Ark, a recording studio owned by Terry Britten (Tina Turner) in Richmond, London. I assisted on sessions with Richard Ashcroft (The Verve), Richard Jupp (drummer Elbow) and assisted producers Matt Lawrence (Grammy Award winning producer, Van Morrison, Amy Winehouse, Macy Gray) and Danton Supple (U2, Coldplay, Amy McDonald,…) I was even going to work with Stormzy but he didn’t show up even though he had booked the studio lol next time!! I collaborated with Nikki Beatnik (dj Kelis), Lennox Cameron (pianist and BV’s for Omar, Brian Jackson, Leon Ware) on tracks that unfortunately haven’t seen the light of day yet. I made DJ mixes for Music Is My Sanctuary, Attack Magazine, Kiosk radio, The Soul Exchange Lndn (run by Scarlett O’Malley), Steppin’ Into Tomorrow, Totally Wired Radio Lndn. I produce and present a monthly radioshow called ‘La Vie en Rose’ on Totally Wired Radio, Acid Jazz’ radiostation based in East London. I wrote, performed and produced all the music on my latest EP for my self-titled project myself. One came out on Vice City, the other one on Phuture Shock Musik, a Bristol based label. So far I’ve made two remixes but hopefully more will follow! Made one for Le Manou and one for Gordon Li which is coming out soon on Bedroom Suck Records, a Melbourne based label. Currently I’m producing an EP for Brussels based singer Mahina.
