About Rebecca Hart

Born into a theatre family, Rebecca Hart has been an actress since before she could talk, and a musician and writer for only a slightly shorter time. A folk-rock singer/songwriter with unmistakable Celtic (and occasional prog-rock) influences, she fronts the 5-piece band currently calling themselves Rebecca Hart & the Wrong Band. Her most recent album, 'The Magician's Daughter' was produced in part by acclaimed Kentucky cellist/songwriter Ben Sollee. She lives for the live show and has performed recently on stages including the Rockwood Music Hall (regulars), the Irish Arts Center, the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival, the Porch Stomp on Governor's Island, and the SoFar Sounds series. This spring she has a commission and residency at Manhattan's The Cell theatre to develop 'How To Read Tarot Cards' a solo play with music directed by Chloe Treat (Great Comet Broadway). As an actress she's had a career on regional and Off-Broadway stages; yes, that is her playing guitar in Paramount Pictures' "Young Adult" w/Charlize Theron. As a theatrical playwright/songwriter she was the winner of the NY Innovative Theatre Award for BEst Music in 2017, a Helen Hayes nominee for 'Best Sound', and has made/performed songs for productions with The Civilians (BAM, Joe's Pub), Target Margin, the NY Hip Hop Theatre Festival, and more. www.rebeccahart.net "brilliant originals" - Brooklyn Roads Magazine "an impressively well-textured voice, sticky melodies... downtown heat" - Time Out "hauntingly atmospheric songs" - Irish Arts Center "infectious stage presence and unique audience rapport" - BAM
