About Monica Ndongo
Passionate about music, London-based , Madrid-born and of African descendant. Been involved in music environments since I was a child, my parents are eager music consumers and vinlys and cassette tapes were manipulated in the everyday life. The repertoire was wide in terms of genre: pop, rock, soul, (mainly from US but also Spanish) Afrobeat, zukouss, makosa, Also I massively listened to music in the radio/TV while I grew up (I discovered and binge-listened to more genres like r& b, flamenco or jazz) and attended as many gigs as I could afford.
Although I quit piano classes as a child, had them again in my young adulthood and quit a second time, it has always been my dream to be a pianist or keyboardist, or a studio engineer/mixer/producer. After a first degree in Media and Film Studies, I got a second degree in History and Sciences of Music. My endless interest led me to study a Master Degree in Musicology in the School of African and Oriental Studies in London. The year I submit my final essay, I joined the Classical Department of Warner Music UK. Been working as Label Copy Coordinator there for 9 years.
Music is my life, I now combine my passion for collecting vinlys and being a concert-goer and happily share my insights about the industry in social media.
