About Jay Van Raalte

Hi, I'm Jay! I'm a guitarist/songwriter/producer/singer from Charleston, South Carolina. I co-founded the award winning blues/rock band Jump Castle Riot with Nina Murchison while in high school. Together we got to make 2 records, tour up the East Coast, and have a ton of fun. Since then I've released a solo EP, Linearity, and a full length album Something More and Kind Of Less, which was just voted the CPMA album of the year! When I'm not on the road with my band, I also work as a touring+session guitarist, producer, and mixing engineer. I love playing live, working in the studio, and helping people bring their vision to life!

Jay's Experience

The motto at my studio is, “We Get The Job Done.” I started out as a guitar player, but have amassed a variety of skills in the 10+ years I’ve spent in the industry. I learned to write songs because my early bands needed original material. I got into producing/engineering because I wasn’t satisfied with a backseat recording experience- I wanted to get my hands on the desk and make things sound the way I imagined! I managed and booked my own bands because someone had to, and before I knew it we had an East Coast tour set up. I’m excited to learn whatever skills are helpful in bringing my and other’s visions to life, and I hope I always get to keep learning.
