About Jessie Young

Independent Irish singer-songwriter Jessie Young is setting herself up to be a fresh voice on the Pop scene. Touted as "one to watch" by Ireland's legendary pop culture magazine Hot Press, she has been working with British producer Jungleboi (Steve Aoki, Ella Henderson, Zayn) on her debut EP, which is set to release later in 2023. With her British and Irish heritage, the artist melds the traditional Irish songwriting styles of storytelling with a sultry, modern pop twist, and consistently has radio DJ's in the US, UK and Ireland comment on her intriguing voice which adds such distinction to her sound. She notes The Eagles, Thin Lizzy, and Madonna as some of her key influences, and showcased her music at Soho House as well as on the Dorchester Rooftop in London. In 2021 she was one of Hot Press’ young and emerging Irish and performed a gig online during the pandemic, in collaboration with The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media in Ireland. She was one of 120+ artists who “flew the flag for Irish music during the pandemic of 2020”, 20% of pre-sales of the annual magazine went to Childline. Her first single of the EP “Wilderness” was played on BBC Introducing Berkshire, FM104 in Dublin, and Cambridge 105, with comments from DJ’s such as “That’s got Bond theme written all over it” – Alex West, BBC Introducing. Her second single, “Bury Us”, was chosen as BBC Introducing in Berkshire’s Track of the Week and has local plays in Ireland. She created her own line-up, showcasing local female artists at Reading’s legendary music venue, The Purple Turtle Bar in Reading, as well as one in Dublin, Ireland, to raise money for women's refuge and domestic violence service, "Soairse DVS".
