Latin Recording Academy Voting Member Delta Carolina Mercado, also known as Delta Carolina or Delta C, is a singer who was born and raised in Washington Heights, New York. She spent her childhood emulating artists like Selena, Shakira, Thalia, Christina Aguilera, Gloria Trevi, and Alicia Keys, who all played a significant role in shaping her musical journey. Singing in church as a teenager helped her understand stage presence. In high school, she received vocal training from Opera Singer Lillian Channelle. Her career took a significant turn in 2017 when she met Beatz Akademy, a Dominican producer from New York who has worked with artists like Farruko and MelyMel. He helped her choose her stage name and mentored her. In November 2017, Delta participated in the singing competition “Voz de NY,” produced by Mairobin Caraballo. Despite her elimination, she spent 2018 preparing to launch herself as a Latin Urban/Pop Artist. In 2019, she released her first single, “Me Prendi,” a Latin Trap song co-written by Eddisander Martinez and produced by Alexis Ferreras. The song garnered 50K views on YouTube, and her first performance at the 116th Street Puerto Rican Festival marked her rise in the industry. In 2021, she released her latest song, “Buscandote,” under the label Patrone Konnections, which reached 119,000 streams on Audiomack Latin in 3 days, thanks to the support of the digital platform and Max Escobar. In 2020, she worked on music productions with Billboard Winner, MTV Latin Music Award recipient, and artist Juan Frias, also known as BRASA who has co-written for Bad Bunny, Prince Royce, & Becky G. She also has upcoming songs co-written by Jose Richard Gonzalez, also known as Dimelo Jovan with a collab in production with multi-platinum producer JH BEATS who has worked with Arcangel, Romeo Santos, Chris Lebron, Nicky Jam and others. These productions are scheduled to be released in the year 2024. On the business side, Delta manages the career of upcoming Latin Tropical Artist Grey Garcia under her own label, Delta C Records LLC. She is dedicated to nurturing and assisting other artists in their individual careers, thanks to the mentorship of her former manager, Félix Alvarez. Other artists under Delta C Records include Kat Abreu, JOVANN, Fernando Bruno and Edinson Oportus. Under her guidance, these individuals have made rapid progress in their careers. Delta has become adept at identifying hit songs, sound quality, and production, thanks to the NYU x Billboard Music Industry Essentials Program and Berklee College of Music Online Music Business Program. Her label, Delta C Records, secured a distribution deal with SONY MUSIC AWAL January 2023 and is expanding its team, focusing on Artist Development, Education, and Marketing.
