About Rachel Jacobs

Up-and-coming composer Rachel Elizabeth Jacobs (née Matthews) brings a modern twist to classical music and film scores. Her diverse work spans multiple genres, challenging traditional ideas of music from contemporary neo-Romantic to modern soundscapes. Her works have been premiered nationally, notably at the North Central Conference of CBDNA with her work Lights and Smoke for wind ensemble by the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Wind Ensemble. In addition to commissioning works privately, Matthews has participated in the Charlotte New Music Festival and the Fresh Inc. Festival in Chicago. She received a Master of Music in Composition at the University of Texas and graduated magna cum laude with honors distinction from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition and a Certificate in Music Business.

Rachel's Experience

With a Masters Degree in Music Composition from the University of Texas at Austin, I am an experienced composer of original music for film, video games, and concert music. For film, podcasts, TV, and web series, I create underscore, intro music, and transition music. For video games and apps, I create in-game sounds, background music, and soundscapes. For concert music, I engrave and sell scores of my original music. I accept commissions for acoustic, electroacoustic, and electronic music. I also arrange and engrave music for my clients, such as part creation, score clean-up, and transcriptions.
