About Cynthia "Cyn" Ortiz

Cynthia is a multifaceted music professional, based in Los Angeles, with over 15 years experience in the music industry. She's worked within the areas of A&R, Label Partnerships, Artist Development, Label Management, Marketing, Music Licensing, and Music Supervision at Interscope Geffen A&M Records, Capitol Records, Warner Bros Records, Alfred Publishing, and UMLE; and is also, of course, a musician! Cynthia has a strong background in musicology and holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Business Administration and Vocal Arts (Opera) from California State University Northridge and a Master's degree from USC (FIGHT ON!). As a musician and songwriter, she's been singing Rock all her life and also spent many years performing as a classically trained singer. Cynthia loves discovering, developing, and pitching new artists, collaborating in studio sessions, negotiating label partnerships, placing music in film/tv, and helping musicians, especially vocalists, hone their skills. She has been fortunate enough to have worked on music projects with artists such as The Rolling Stones, U2, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Audioslave, Chris Cornell, Weezer, Alejandro Sanz, David Bisbal, Jenni Rivera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Muse, Juanes, Snow Patrol, Atlas Genius, Tokio Hotel, Mastodon, and The Cure, as well as soundtrack album projects such as Where the Wild Things Are, 127 Hours, Kung Fu Panda, Despicable Me, Slumdog Millionaire, and World War Z to name a few. Her involvement in Label and Brand Partnerships includes Beats by Dre (Apple), KROQ's Weenie Roast, Vans Warped Tour, The Recording Academy, and many more partnerships with major label artists. Out of all the roles she's held, her favorite is A&R. She thrives on pitching new artists and songwriters to Labels and Publishers, and spends her her time scouting at shows, working with indie artists, and doing studio session work.
