About Antares Vargas

My name is Antares. I was born in Mexico City and moved to America when I was 8 years old. Fast forward 20 years later, I now live in Los Angeles. I get to make a living doing what I love which is producing and editing content. I'm blessed and fortunate to be in the position I am today. I love merging images, words, and music to create visuals that move people. I'm on a journey to hone in my voice and live up to become the great artist I know I can be. I'm feeling the weight of getting older with every sunset. I love being alive so much that it cripples me to think life can be cut short at any moment so I've made a promise to myself to create and tell stories every single day. It can range from taking a simple picture, writing a small story, producing and editing content, or creating art. My goal is to express myself and tell a compelling story along the way. I'm here to both find mentorship and provide mentorship. I'm here to be inspired and inspire others. I'm also here to collaborate with great humans and pour my heart into a project that will touch at least one individual. I'm a forever student and have so much room in my heart to go to battle with you and your team and put our best project into the world.

Antares' Experience

I started my career in 2013 in post production as a coordinator on a show for Fox Sports. During the day, I fulfilled my duties and at night when everyone was gone, I would sneak into edit bays to study the timelines from the editors. I taught myself how to edit and started volunteering to edit portions of different shows and special programming at night. I continued to keep my head buried in the sand and learned everything I could in my position as post coordinator. My superb organizational and research skills eventually got me promoted to associate producer. I loved doing research, pulling music, writing voice over scripts, and building decks and pitches together. I also became extremely good at finding clips and footage for the editors. As an associate producer, I worked on pilots, docuseries, special programming, music videos, etc. I continued to edit on my free time and started jumping in edit bays to cut scenes and story for different shows. My speed and ability to navigate an Avid got me noticed and producers started hiring me in story producer roles to tee up scenes for editors. My string outs were solid with strong stories and allowed the editors to focus on style and polishing rather than going back to refine the story. In between shows, I decided to purchase a DSLR and lens kit. I started photographing everything in sight and filming my own content as well as being second camera on several docu-series. I invested in more lenses and made my camera my loyal companion. I’m a very diverse team player and have worn a ton of hats both in production and post production. My end goal is to become a show runner and director on high end content. I think my versatility will help me get there sooner rather than later. If you need a production manager you can call me and I will hire crews, negotiate salaries, handle logistics, scheduling, gear rental, call sheets, and more. If you need someone to oversee post production you can also call me. I will hire the best editors and story producers to take your project to the finish line with no hiccups. I have worked with the best post supers in the last 8 years and learned the most efficient workflows. I will stay on schedule and keep the team productive and happy. If you need a strong story producer I’m also your woman. I am thorough, meticulous, and have great memory. I will watch every frame of footage, annotate every second, and remember every moment to then cutdown hundreds of hours into the most compelling minutes. I will memorize all the interviews and b-roll available. I’m extremely organized and that obsessiveness pays off in the edit when you have to go through thousands of hours of footage and edit sequences over and over until it feels right. Finally, if you need an editor then I’m also your woman. Everyday, I fall in love with editing even more. Merging music, words, sound design, and visuals to create an experience for the viewer that is so magical and satisfying. In my opinion, editors are underrated artists. Give us your thoughts and we will give you a story. Oh and one last thing, my camera comes with me everywhere so if you need candid stills, intimate portraits, or behind the scenes photos, I got you covered. I capture moments not for the glitz and glamour but for the rawness of the moment.
