About Dorothea Tachler

Dorothea Tachler, a musical maverick born and raised in the vibrant city of Munich, Germany, embodies a unique blend of cultural influences. As the child of Korean and German-Croatian parents, her upbringing was a rich tapestry of diverse traditions and artistic inspirations. Dorothea's journey into the world of music began at the tender age of 3, a testament to her innate talent and passion. Her musical voyage officially set sail at the prestigious Academy for Music in Munich, where she pursued a rigorous education in classical music and theory. Her focus primarily centered on mastering the violin and piano, composition and voice. However, even during her time as a student, she ventured beyond the confines of traditional classical music. She embarked on a parallel path, seeking wisdom from a private mentor, a seasoned film composer. This mentorship provided her with invaluable insights into the world of film scoring and composition. Remarkably, Dorothea's musical journey didn't follow a linear trajectory. Simultaneous to her studies, she seized opportunities to collaborate with bands hailing from Germany, the United States, and Japan. These musical endeavors transcended genre boundaries, spanning from the avant-garde to indie rock, surf rock to electronic music, and dream-pop, among others. Her versatility as a musician shone as she effortlessly switched between instruments, including violin, keys, bass, and guitar, demonstrating her unparalleled adaptability. The vibrant cityscape of New York City beckoned Dorothea, and since the mid 2000's, she called it home. During her time in the Big Apple, she not only honed her craft but also established her own bands "My Favourite Things" and "Hunki Dori". Her talent as a composer flourished as she lent her musical prowess to film projects, further solidifying her presence in the creative landscape. As the years passed, Dorothea's artistic journey led her to Berlin, where she on and off resides. In this dynamic city, she received several grants to help her continue to craft her unique sound, constantly exploring the boundaries of musical expression. Dorothea Tachler's story is one of artistic exploration, cultural fusion, and unwavering dedication to the craft of music.

Dorothea's Experience

I learned to play and read music at age 3, learned how to play different instruments over time, got accepted to the music school “academy for performing arts” in Munich, Germany and graduated there, meanwhile started touring with different bands, playing violin, keys, singing, bass, guitar and more. Along the way, I took classes with a film composer and a few years later, started working myself as a composer for film music and commercials, alongside producing music for my own band projects and recording and releasing records by myself.
