About Kathryn Moore

Hello I'm 51 married a musician 23 years ago. I went out and bought a PA system and built my own computer for recording with the help of a soundman Brandon Carter who eventually started a school in NC. Also by sitting in on studio recordings for husband's bands over the years. Like Big Mama's studio in Memphis and the Jam Room in Cola SC. When I started there wasn't any schools except in NY,Cal and Ohio. I started with all Peavy PA system analog and Cakewalk have recently been upgrading and learning the switch from analog to digital with new PRESONUS equipment w/ capture and studio 4. I am checking into Midlands tech and the Jam Room who now offer classes. I really thought not seeing women in the industry was a just a Southern problem until learning from PRESONUS and Sweetwater that only 5% of the industry are women. I'm also a Younique presenter that sells makeup to raise money and awareness for sexually abused Women and children. So I got an idea to start a Younique Ladies of Rock festival. I have 6 female fronted bands and a headliner of an all female band booked for May 4th at my local community center. 1$ of each 10 donation entry will go to Younique Foundation plus any extra raffle tickets we sell for a music festival tapestry signed by all the bands. The rest will go to the bands who are trying to raise money for different reasons such as a tour bus, studio time, CDs etc. I have 3 vendors setting up to sell crafts, jewellery, clothing and a food truck they will cover the rent of the community center. I'm donating my time and equipment to run sound hope to eventually see this grow and get female students to run sound and production. All ages welcomed 10 and under get in free. I chose to do this at community center in rural area because I grew up in one and was never exposed to musicians or running sound til I was 30 so I'm hoping young girls will see this festival for women put on by Women and see opportunities that they normally wouldn't and believe it's all possible. I don't have any degrees or real professional training just lots of Reading, asking questions and self training. Still have lots to learn and as fast as new and better equipment is being designed I'll never stop learning. This is how I found out about she is the music looking for foundations that support women in music. I'm happy to see there are some!
