My name is Melina Gault, I am 16 years old, and I am from Laguna Beach, California. I have been playing music since I was around the ages of three and four. I began with piano lessons, and overtime as I grew up, my music interests expanded. In first grade I started writing songs about random topics ranging from ice cream to dogs. In third grade I would "steal" my brothers violin that he used for his school orchestra, and I would go on youtube to teach myself how to play it. I couldn't read the violin music, so instead I went the contemporary route, and would learn how to play songs by ear. For the next year, I put a bunch of instruments on my Christmas/Birthday list, and I payed for a lot of them myself with my allowance. This ranged from the cello, guitar, Indian flute, mandolin, ukulele, viola, and electric bass. I used google as well as youtube to learn the tequnique, and then my ear to learn how to play songs. My parents finally got me a teacher for violin, who happened to be a musical genius, and taught me how to play all the instruments I was "google searching". Since then, I have been first violinist for the Honors Performance Series Symphony Group at Carnegie Hall when I was 14, and for the South Coast Youth Symphony New Years performance in Vienna, Austria in 2018. As of right now I am a first violinist for the Southern California Philharmonic. I have continued my singing/songwriting, and now have recently began producing music. I am excited for what the future holds, and I will continue to pursue my musical dreams!
