Maren's Experience

I began writing on my own as a kid with just melodies and poems, and eventually picked up the guitar and piano in high school when I really started fleshing out full songs and arrangements and learning about the craft and technicals of songwriting. I am largely self-taught, and have a long way to go in building up my harmony and production skills. However, I am an eager and quick learner and excited to further experiment and practice towards greater self-sufficiency and service to others through having a larger variety of skills. My greatest strengths lie in melody, lyrics, and vocal performance. I LOVE collaboration and gaining the insight of other peoples’ perspectives and experiences. While I am certainly establishing a specificity within my own sound as a recording artist, in my writing I am unbound by genre and style. I have performed in multiple bands and as a solo act, and find great joy in playing live. I am a YoungArts Alumni in the singer/songwriter category, and attended Grammy Camp and Berklee College of Music 5-Week Summer Performance Program on full scholarships before my senior year of high school. A year later moved out to Los Angeles to pursue music and acting. I am currently working on my own album and trying to meet fellow artists and writers to share and work with along the way.
