Laurie's Experience

I’ve applied my songwriting to every facet of my musical life from releasing my own albums and gigging and touring to mentoring and producing young songwriters. Guitar has always been at the center whether performing, playing or teaching and I feel confident I can support others in most musical environments with a high level of skill and creativity. I’m working on becoming more self-sufficient in the studio. My skills as a writer/producer/arranger/multi-instrumentlist are easing me into the learning curve wjth joy (and a bit of mania.) Surrounded by all my guitars, bass, wires and assorted toys I’m embracing my creative mess. I studied film and then film-scoring and have been peripherally involved with productions for many years. While I’ve stumbled into syncs throughout my career, I’ve finally taken a deep dive into all facets of sync licensing and am now collaborating with people all over the world, testing out new genres, volunteering at music conferences, participating in webinars and enjoying being part of this community. I have a good understanding of publishing, licensing, copyright, music supervision and as a member of SONA (Songwriters of North America) am constantly learning how important it is to stay on top of the laws that govern our field. Spreading this knowledge to fellow writers is a natural extension of my years teaching and mentoring.
