Tessa N Friends is a solo indie-pop project run by Tessa Forrest. Coming from a musical family, Tessa has been doing music ever since she can remember, starting as a classical piano player, a rock band musician, and a classical composer to a music producer and singer. Tessa does all of her writing, recording, and production in her bedroom studio. ‘’Music was always my inspiration, my way of processing everything I go through in life. The second most important thing that matters to me, besides music, is my friends, they are the reason for everything, my inspiration, my home, they are my music, the music that has not yet been put into sound’’ When she was 14 she was deeply impressed by The Perks of Being a Wallflower and was so moved by the movie aesthetic that it inspired her to start her own band and found a group of friends.‘’I guess I was lacking a positive role model of adulting in my real life, and that is why I got so obsessed with the idea of re-creating this partly unrealistic, yet charming model I saw on the screen. Life is not a movie, but all movies are based on life, so… I learned some things are more complicated, some things take longer than they show on Netflix, but everything easily pays off by a couple of picture-perfect weeks you get from time to time when you feel loved and belonging. I love my friends more than anything in my life and making music about inspiring moments with them seems right, and is what drives me creatively’’ Right now Tessa and Friends is a solo project, but its name gives credit to all the people behind it: not the band, but friends, who inspire and support Tessa along her way. It is like a band name and a Friends TV show reference put in one just to give credit to the people Tessa loves the most. Currently, Tessa is working on her demo album, which will put together a story of friendship, growing pains, losing, and finding yourself again. Inspired by her relationship with her friends, struggles of life, overcoming dark days, and shining on with a little help from the people who matter the most in our lives - our friends who are just another extension of the family.
