About Cindy Emch

The HuffPo annointed 'First Lady of Queer Country,' Cindy Emch (aka Emchy), plays foot stompin' heart breakin' country music about good friends and hard times. Occasionally compared to Sturgill Simpson and Waylon Jennings - queer country singer Emchy mixes the toughness of her rural roots with the tenderness of the human condition. She has released two albums with her band The Secret Emchy Society and is often on tour throughout the Western US and Canada. The Atlanta Auditory Association named her albums The Stars Fall Shooting into Twangsville and Mark’s Yard one of their Best Albums of 2017 /2018 respectively and she has opened for such illustrious folks as Sarah Shook, Carolyn Mark, Geoff Berner, Jason Hawk Harris, I See Hawks in LA, and more. When she isn't performing she can be found hosting the Outlaw Americana radio show on GimmeCountry.com and running the Queer Country Music website StrangeFireMagazine.com. What does the press say about Emchy? “Equal parts June Carter Cash, Nick Cave and Murder By Death.” - No Depression “Imagine Bill Monroe and Sid Vicious having kids together.” - From Under The Basement “Pretty and gritty, sexy and sad.” - Jessie Lynn McMains, a.k.a. Rust Belt Jessie “An album of dichotomies. It is the glint of a switchblade held to your throat.” - Common Folk Music “Songs which could be used to score a romantic montage for Bonnie and Clyde.” - Now This Sound Is Brave “Dark, sexy killing songs, boozy ballads, off-kilter anthems, and country weepers.” - Mad Mackerel
