About Blair Booth

My name is Blair Booth and I am a female producer, composer, singer and musician who has professionally been in the music business for over 20 years. In the 90's I was a recording artist and front woman of chart topping Hip Hop trio Oui 3 (MCA Records) with hits ‘Break From The Old Routine’ and ‘For What It’s Worth’. I collaborated, wrote and recorded with Terry Hall (of The Specials and Colourfield) as Terry, Blair & Anouchka for Chrysalis Records and many other notable artists ranging from Nick Heyward to Robert Plant. My achievements in the world of ‘Pop’ music include 13 singles (8 of which were hits) and 12 albums. I currently spend my time writing and producing music for media. I am published by Audionetwork, Sony/ATV, No Sheet Music, KPM and Biblioteque. My music has been performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and is heard on countless TV shows and advertising campaigns around the globe. I write and produce in all genres ranging from orchestration to Electronica. It's been a tough ride as a woman in the music business and I can say hand on my heart, it's been only tenacity, determination and sheer belief that has got me through.

Blair's Experience

Back in the 90’s I was one of the first women producers to use Sound Tools. I even had an early Mac Quadra 700 and gravitated to using Logic Pro for programming. Over the many years to date I have now a full studio with Mac Pro (late 2013) 12-Core Intel Xeon E5 running 64GB and too many plugins to mention. I found that in order to survive I had to expand my horizons and learn as many new genres as possible, but with an integrity to sell and stay true to the sound. As a child my father had a doctorate and emiritus in music and I was taught piano at the age of 5. In my early youth I was heavily influenced by baroque music which I love to this day. However, when performing recitals my preference was Chopin and Grieg. In my teens I found my voice as a singer wanting to be a cross between Freddie Mercury and Aretha Franklin. I loved Rock music but really enjoyed Funkadelic. My great inspirations were Billy Preston, Nillson, Carole King, Carly Simon and Queen! I moved from the US to London when I was 19. I started out singing on commercials, then joined a few bands and then landed a few record deals with MCA Records, Chrysalis Records and Sony Music. Had a few hit singles did Top of The Pops, The Word and played at Glastonbury Festival. Now I’m a geek spending my time with technology and the wizardry of sound design, making Complextro and Glitch Hop. Oh and I still orchestrate and was lucky enough to have the Royal Philharmonic perform two works of mine for Audionetwork.
